Live as if you die tomorrow.
Learn as if you live forever.

Mahatma Gandhi

Project Basho provides not only production space and resources for photographers, but it is our mission to provide opportunities for those interested in learning the rich and intricate medium of photography.

Classes are intended for a wide range audiences: from complete beginners to those who have some knowledge but lack practice in recent years, as well as for those who want to further develop their craft and sense of vision. These classes are small and practice-oriented, so that each student can get enough attention and appropriate advice from instructors.

Since the approach of the classes is holistic, emphasis will be placed on gaining practical knowledge as well as understanding of the aesthetics and history of photography. There will be a series of critiques where students are expected to show their work for various assignments. Students will also be exposed to a wide range of photographic expressions through slide lectures on historical and contemporary works as well as through visiting museums and galleries of photography shows.

Customized Workshops

Project Basho offers customized workshops for small groups on many of the subjects covered in our classes and workshops. You may request a certain class, or we can help coordinate a guest instructor to cover a topic of your choice. According to the interests and needs of your group, we will adjust the skill level, subjects covered, and the pace of the lesson.

This is an ideal option for a group of friends wishing to learn together, or a school group or college class interested in specific instruction with a knowledgeable photographer. We are able to tailor the subject matter, materials used, and structure of the class based on your group's requirements and interests. Experience the benefits of bringing your college class to our facilities where you have access to a variety of specialized photographic resources, or organizing a class just for your group of friends. A customized workshop can quickly bring your photography to the next level with the focused attention of a Project Basho instructor and input from your peers.

If you are interested, please fill out the customized workshop form and a Project Basho staff member will get back to you about setting up your workshop.
