Description:

The elegance and attractiveness of the black and white photograph is perhaps eternal. In this course, we will use modern photographic technologies to create images in the classic black and white style. Students will use their 35mm SLR digital cameras in conjunction with Photoshop to create artistic images. This is a class for beginners who want to learn photography from a digital perspective.

This class will run simultaneously with the Photographic Visions traditional darkroom class, covering the same curriculum from a digital perspective. Topics to be covered are techniques of proper exposure, principles of composition, and understanding the use of lighting. Image processing and printing will be done with the use of the computer and printer.

Like the Photographic Visions traditional darkroom class, there will be shooting trips as well as museum and gallery visits on some weekends. Although these are not mandatory, students are strongly encouraged to attend these occasions.
