Description:

Spend a day photographing the 18th and 19th century historic buildings of Batsto Village and the fall scenery of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Students will spend the morning photographing Batsto Village, a Pine Barrens iron village containing over 30 buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, including a working 1828 water powered grist mill, a working 1868 water powered saw mill, and a ironmaster's mansion.

The afternoon will be spent hiking along the Batsto River and Batsto Lake and photographing the beautiful fall foliage and scenery of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Participants will see the many fall wildflowers of the area including asters, goldenrods and the rare Pine Barrens gentian. Students will also learn about the unique ecology and history of the area.
