Interpretative B&W Printing

Prints in your portfolio should be able to communicate your ideas and worldview or simply represent the type of photographs that interest you. They are the final pieces which stand between you as a photographer and the audience. Your selection should be carefully chosen and should help you convey the tone and theme of your work and the elements you care to explore. Printing is a critical element to consider when creating your portfolio.

During the workshop, students will work with a master printer who has intensive experience collaborating with photographers to understand what they want to communicate with their prints. A critique of select prints will help stimulate and focus discussion. Tone, contrast, and the overall balance will be considered with meticulous attention given to each detail. Suggestions and directions will cater to individual needs and goals.
