Contemporary Photography Workshops, Courses, Classes, Lessons at Project Basho, Photography Center in Philadelphia, PA, NJ, NY, DE, MD, OH Philadelphia Grid Project
- Explore Philadelphia through photography grid by grid
Tiffany Smith, Photographic Vision I, Fall 2007, Photography Classes and Workshops at Project Basho in Philadelphia PA
Description: This workshop combines elements of lecture, critique, and shooting into an interactive project. We will begin each session with either a lecture or a critique and the second half of each session we will be out in the field photographing. As a group, we will spend four Saturdays photographing different parts of the city. Each Saturday, we will shoot in a different grid. This mini project and workshop has been inspired by a larger grid project that is ongoing in the city and there may be additional opportunities to participate in the full project as well.

This course is for those who have experience shooting and are looking for the support of a structured workshop to facilitate shooting, critique, and perhaps even a new project.

About Philadelphia Grid Project
The Philadelphia Grid Project is a long term project which will photographically document the City of Philadelphia. The “grid concept” was born in Portland, OR and operates under the title of the Portland Grid Project. Robert Cocozza, a friend of Project Basho, initiated the grid project here in Philadelphia as a way to organize the photographic documentation of the city. Each month, those involved photograph a pre-assigned area of the city. The subject matter is up to the photographer. The only requirement is that the photograph must be made within the pre-assigned geographic location. Also monthly, the group assembles to select one image per photographer to be added to the archives.
