Rebekah Kaithern (Photographic Vision I, Fall '07)
Description: This class is for beginners who want to attain a basic knowledge of the medium of photography; from the use of a 35mm manual camera to basic darkroom practices. Topics will include techniques of proper exposure, the principles of composition, and an understanding of lighting. In the darkroom, film processing and printing will be the emphasis throughout the course.

While students will learn technical skills, they are also encouraged to explore the aesthetics of photographic expression through assignments and slide lectures of contemporary and historical work.

In addition to in-class meetings, there will be optional shooting trips as well as museum and gallery visits on some weekends. Although these are not mandatory, students are highly recommended to attend these occasions.
