Description: This course is for students who are ready to sharpen their printing skills and begin exploring the fine print. Using existing negatives, students will print on fiber and experiment with multigrade papers and contrast filters.

Other topics will include warm- and cold-toned print developers; bleaching techniques; dodging, burning, and combining dodging with bleaching; toning; and spotting. Discussions will address print size, borders, and presentation methods.

This course is ideal for students who have completed Photographic Vision II and are ready to begin producing their first top-quality prints.

Schedule: One-weekend Workshop
Saturday & Sunday, 9 pm - 5 pm

Materials needed: B/W negatives (from 35mm to 4x5)
11x14 FB paper
Some 16x20 FB paper
Apron
Prerequisite: Photographic Vision I or portfolio review
Fee: $300 + lab fee of $50
Instructor: Teresa Engle, Master Printer for major exhibitions, estates and archives. Specializing in printing vintage negatives. Regular instructor of advanced fine art printing at The International Center of Photography in NY. Clients include Robert Capa Estate, LIFE Picture Collection, Howard Greenberg Gallery, Peter Fetterman Gallery among others.
