Digital Workflow I

Instructor: Brandon Jones
Sundays, June 26 & July 31
Adobe Photoshop can feel overwhelming when editing and organizing large sets of images, whereas Lightroom can be limiting when making advanced adjustments. The key to an efficient and powerful workflow is to use these programs in tandem and to know which tool is right for the job. This five-week course demonstrates how Lightroom and Photoshop can be integrated into a comprehensive, effective digital practice. Participants will learn how to quickly and easily import, categorize, and sort large collections of images, make general adjustments, and move on to more advanced fine-tuning techniques.

Gum Bichromate

Instructor: Scott McMahon
Saturday & Sunday, July 23 & 24
In this weekend workshop, participants will use gum arabic, watercolor pigments, and light sensitive chromium salts to print layered color images, building texture and tone in a method that approximates printmaking. This process can result in a beautiful, painterly quality with great expressive possibilities. Participants will experiment with a broad color palette and are invited to print from any form of light-resist including large negatives and even drawings. Digital photographers may also participate by printing digital negatives.
