Project Basho Fundraising Print Sale

&mdash Platinum/Palladium prints by Tsuyoshi Ito —

Tsuyoshi creates these photographs with a large century-old camera. This series was made in locations he frequently visits and photographs: Philadelphia, South Jersey, and Japan.

The images are captured on a panoramic 7 x 17 in. negative and printed using the platinum/palladium process. This process, as opposed to conventional silver printing, involves mixing platinum and palladium with another light sensitive solution. The solution is then brushed onto a sheet of fine art paper and is used to make a contact print from a large negative. The resulting prints exhibit an exceptional gradation of tones.

For an additional $125, we can also add an over mat and frame custom made by Tsuyoshi. These frames are made of clear maple wood and have been used in our gallery space for many exhibitions. The finished frame size is 13x23 inches.
