One Big Building, One Big Promise

Fundraising at Project Basho '09

— Friday, December 11th, 7pm —

Project Basho was founded with the vision of fostering a vibrant and dynamic photographic community in Philadelphia. We have worked diligently to follow through on this vision and have created a truly unique arts space. Our growing series of classes and workshops focuses on a range of topics and processes hard to find anywhere else, from the historical daguerreotype to state-of-the-art inkjet printing. Working artists and beginning students alike come together in our darkrooms, and our spacious gallery showcases the work of emerging and established photographers from the U.S. and abroad. Additionally, we strive to engage our community through events such as lectures, informal critiques, and gallery trips as well as our new tuition-free youth outreach program.

As 2010 approaches, we have a lot planned and we are working hard to make Project Basho bigger and better. Our plans for expansion include extending our gallery space to accommodate larger exhibitions, developing new workshops with more visiting artists, upgrading our digital facilities, and broadening our calendar of events. Your ongoing support is always appreciated and your participation in this year's fundraiser will help us achieve these goals. There are several options this year designed to meet the interests of the diverse community we serve. We hope you can join us in this year's fundraising efforts at Project Basho.

Thank you in advance for your support and participation. Project Basho plays a unique role in Philadelphia's photography scene and it is your involvement that makes this possible.

Option 1: Silent Auction

Please join us Friday, December 11th at 7pm for our annual Print Sale Fundraiser Party. This will be a great opportunity to see work by Project Basho's talented community of instructors, members, and volunteers and possibly come home with an original print. In addition to the silent auction, we will be selling magazine subscriptions, books, gift certificates from local restaurants, and more.

UPDATE: Thank you all who came out to the fundraiser. All unsold prints are now on sale for the price of their opening bid at a first come, first served basis.

Option 2: Print Sale

We will also be selling a series of platinum/palladium prints by Tsuyoshi Ito, founder and program director of Project Basho. This series consists of landscapes taken in Japan, Philadelphia, and South Jersey.

Option 3: Membership

You can also support Project Basho by becoming a member. The Friends of Project Basho program is designed to promote deeper involvement in our photographic community and provides vital support for our space. Benefits include discounts on lectures, classes, and darkroom rental, invitations to special events, and more.
